Le v\u00e9ritable leadership ne se mesure pas uniquement \u00e0 ce que nous accomplissons nous-m\u00eames, mais aussi aux capacit\u00e9s que nous faisons grandir chez ceux qui nous entourent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Lorsque je repense aux moments les plus d\u00e9terminants de mon parcours de dirigeant, ce ne sont presque jamais ceux o\u00f9 je me sentais \u00e0 l&#8217;aise. Ce sont plut\u00f4t les instants o\u00f9 quelqu&#8217;un tenait suffisamment \u00e0 moi \u2013 et \u00e0 la personne que je pouvais devenir \u2013 pour me dire une v\u00e9rit\u00e9 difficile \u00e0 entendre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">L&#8217;un de ces moments remonte au d\u00e9but de ma carri\u00e8re, alors que j&#8217;avais une vingtaine d&#8217;ann\u00e9es. Mon mentor, Hugh Knop, m&#8217;a lanc\u00e9 un jour une remarque dont je me serais bien pass\u00e9 : <em>\u00ab J&#8217;ai du mal \u00e0 comprendre comment quelqu&#8217;un de 21 ans peut avoir des opinions aussi arr\u00eat\u00e9es. Tu te comportes comme si tu en avais 65. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Cette remarque m&#8217;a profond\u00e9ment bouscul\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Il mettait en lumi\u00e8re ma rigidit\u00e9, ma conviction d&#8217;avoir d\u00e9j\u00e0 toutes les r\u00e9ponses. Et il avait raison. Ce retour m&#8217;a aid\u00e9 \u00e0 remettre en question mes certitudes, \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper davantage d&#8217;humilit\u00e9 et \u00e0 rester ouvert \u00e0 l&#8217;apprentissage. Ce changement a profond\u00e9ment transform\u00e9 ma mani\u00e8re de diriger. Il ne cherchait pas \u00e0 me rabaisser ; il croyait simplement que j&#8217;\u00e9tais capable de davantage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Des ann\u00e9es plus tard, un autre mentor \u2013 cette fois un client, Steve Ewing \u2013 m&#8217;a adress\u00e9 un retour tout aussi direct : <em>\u00ab Tu as tendance \u00e0 exag\u00e9rer. Quand quelque chose vaut sept, tu dis dix. Et cela nuit \u00e0 ta cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Puis il a ajout\u00e9 une phrase que je n&#8217;ai jamais oubli\u00e9e : <em>\u00ab La v\u00e9rit\u00e9 suffit. Tu es remarquable. Tu as d\u00e9j\u00e0 un impact consid\u00e9rable. Tu n&#8217;as pas besoin d&#8217;en rajouter. \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Ce fut un commentaire exigeant, parfois inconfortable, mais incroyablement pr\u00e9cieux.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Trente-cinq ans plus tard, je me surprends encore \u00e0 v\u00e9rifier que mes propos restent justes, pr\u00e9cis et ancr\u00e9s dans la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Cette seule conversation a influenc\u00e9 positivement mon leadership pendant des d\u00e9cennies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Ces exp\u00e9riences illustrent parfaitement ce que repr\u00e9sente la dimension <strong>\u00ab Mentorat et d\u00e9veloppement \u00bb<\/strong> du Leadership Circle Profile. Il consiste \u00e0 se soucier suffisamment de leur d\u00e9veloppement pour avoir avec elles des conversations qui favorisent leur progression.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Cela demande de l&#8217;honn\u00eatet\u00e9, du courage et une r\u00e9elle bienveillance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Le grand leadership ne se limite jamais \u00e0 la performance individuelle. \u00c0 son meilleur niveau, il se multiplie. Il d\u00e9veloppe les talents, renforce les capacit\u00e9s et fait \u00e9merger de nouveaux leaders. Il transmet la confiance, la sagesse et les comp\u00e9tences qui permettront \u00e0 d&#8217;autres d&#8217;aller plus loin que nous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Les organisations deviennent plus solides, plus r\u00e9silientes et mieux pr\u00e9par\u00e9es pour l&#8217;avenir lorsque leurs dirigeants investissent d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment dans le d\u00e9veloppement du leadership autour d&#8217;eux.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Bien s\u00fbr, cela suppose \u00e9galement d&#8217;\u00eatre soi-m\u00eame capable d&#8217;\u00eatre coach\u00e9 : faire preuve d&#8217;ouverture, d&#8217;humilit\u00e9 et accepter d&#8217;entendre des retours qui peuvent remettre en question l&#8217;image que l&#8217;on a de soi. Lorsque cette capacit\u00e9 d&#8217;apprentissage rencontre un mentorat authentique, il se produit quelque chose de puissant : l&#8217;apprentissage s&#8217;acc\u00e9l\u00e8re, la confiance se renforce et le potentiel de leadership s&#8217;\u00e9largit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">L&#8217;invitation adress\u00e9e \u00e0 chaque dirigeant est simple, m\u00eame si elle n&#8217;est jamais facile : ne cherchez pas seulement \u00e0 \u00eatre un bon leader. Engagez-vous \u00e0 faire grandir les autres.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Dites la v\u00e9rit\u00e9 avec respect. Ma\u00eetrisez vos propres r\u00e9actions. Offrez des retours sinc\u00e8res au service de la progression. Gardez \u00e0 l&#8217;esprit qu&#8217;une seule conversation courageuse aujourd&#8217;hui peut transformer durablement le leadership de quelqu&#8217;un.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Voil\u00e0 ce qu&#8217;est le mentorat. Voil\u00e0 ce qu&#8217;est le d\u00e9veloppement.
